Woman feuds with sister after she lets her 15-year-old stepdaughter's Mom get the guest room for the Holidays: '[I] should have the guest suite!'

This family has already started arguing over holiday logistics.

Hosting extended family members during the Christmas season often means having to please far too many difficult people. Instead of folks trying to make your life easier as you attempt to make arrangements that work for everyone, they often add more hurdles to the process.

This could range from that uncle who can't sleep on a certain mattress because of his bad back to the niece who needs a private office to study for her test all day. It's hard to accommodate everyone, and nine times out of ten, everyone would be happier if they were to just accept the reality that you can't always get what you want. To that end, you also can't give everyone what they want either.

This author learned that the hard way after she decided to reserve the guest room for Christmas for her stepdaughter's mother, who hasn't spent the holidays with her daughter in more than five years. She thought this was mature of her to make that offer, but in a surprising turn of events, the person who took issue with this the most was the author's sister. She couldn't stand the idea of having to sleep on an air mattress.
